2025 Plein Air Painting Australia
Welcome to Bondi Icebergs
If you find the thought of painting Plein air in front of a crowd dauting this video is for you.
The secret is preparation, take note of location that truly interests you, so when you arrive on the day, you aren't wondering around talking your self out of the mission.
Travel light and keep your kit small, I often take only cool and warm tones of my primary colours plus white.
I recommend starting with small canvas 10 cm x 10 cm canvas, it's manageable and allows you to finish quickly.
Once you realize the crowd isn't as intimidating as you feared, your second piece will come much easier just don't blame me if you get hooked.
Enjoy the process you'll find people are generally friendly and curios.. and you may might even sell a painting right off the easel,
Welcome to Kelly Falls
If getting away from the crowds is more your style, , you can set yourself up with a more comprehensive kit and a larger canvas.
Find a shady spot and take all day if you wish.
I've visited this spot many time, so I always have a mental note of the what id like to capture, this makes hike in and the set up much faster.
Composition, bocking in and managing tonal values are the keys, I've brought my lunch, water and sun screen so I can simply relax, enjoy the sounds of nature, and feel the cool breeze coming off the water fall while i work.
